For Oklahoma social studies classrooms

Practice that keeps every student involved.

Text Basketball pairs standards-aligned retrieval practice with immediate feedback, academic recovery, and a shot after every possession.

Classroom readiness

What teachers need to know

Everything students need is built into the game experience.

Standards aligned

Twenty games support Oklahoma Grade 7 Geography and Grade 8 U.S. History content.

Flexible timing

Choose 10 questions for about 15 minutes, 20 for 30 minutes, or 30 for 45 minutes.

Read-aloud support

Students can hear passages, prompts, answer choices, and feedback read aloud.

English and Spanish

A clearly labeled language control supports students who benefit from Spanish translation.

Productive recovery

A first miss triggers a hint and retry. In matching rounds, correct pairs stay locked while students revisit the others.

No account required

Students can open a game, enter a display name, choose a length, and begin immediately.

The learning loop

Read. Answer. Recover. Explain. Shoot.

Correct answers improve the shot opportunity; they never determine whether a student gets to participate.

  2. 2AnswerChoose the conclusion best supported by the evidence.
  3. 3RecoverUse a hint and retry after a first miss.

Academic effectiveness

Built for durable learning

Arcade Mode supports engaging retrieval practice. Learning Mode adds diagnosis, adaptation, explanation, and a parallel exit check.

Visible learning targets

Every game previews student-friendly ‘I can’ statements, shows the active target during each question, and reports results by skill.

Spaced mixed practice

Learning Mode mixes in cumulative course review. A missed or recovered concept returns several questions later in a different item.

Specific corrective feedback

Coach’s Challenge names the student’s selected answer, explains why it does not fit the evidence, removes one option, and prompts a retry.

Evidence explanations

Every fourth practice item asks students to explain their evidence. Students can write independently or study a model without losing their shot.

Before-and-after checks

Learning Mode opens with three diagnostic items and closes with three different items measuring the same kinds of thinking.

Device-local priorities

Concepts needing support are prioritized in later Learning Mode sessions on the same device; no student account is required.

Suggested uses

Students can play independently, with partners, or as part of a whole-class routine.
